The "TL;DR" for Developers

Capybara developer tools help you ship playable games, not harvest your data:

  1. Your game is yours. We do not use your game logic, player data, or assets to train models.
  2. We do not sell your data. The developer tools are free; we make no money from your information.
  3. We use analytics to improve the product. We use PostHog to see which features are used most and where people get stuck.
  4. We don't monitor your games. Game content is processed to operate the service, never reviewed.

1. Who We Are

Capybara developer tools are owned and operated by Terminal Labs Inc., a company incorporated in Canada. When we say “we,” “us,” or “our,” we are referring to Terminal Labs Inc.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email, and a securely hashed password — or basic profile details from Google if you sign in with Google.
  • Project information: game project names, game IDs, publish URLs, sync status, and API key identifiers (prefixes and hashes — never the raw key).
  • Usage data (telemetry): we use PostHog to collect statistics on how you use the platform (e.g., pages visited, features used, and dashboard navigation).
  • Game operational data: player sign-ins, saves, rooms, and playtime processed by the game backend to run your games and power your dashboard.

3. How Game Data Is (Not) Used

  • We do not use game or player data to train models.
  • We do not sell game or player data.
  • We do not use it for advertising.
  • We do not monitor, review, or moderate game content. If you make games with Capybara, you are responsible for your own players' privacy, including any notices or consent your games legally require.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Location: as a Canadian company, we comply with Canadian privacy standards. Data may be processed on servers in the United States or other regions depending on our infrastructure providers.
  • Security: passwords are hashed by our auth library, API keys are stored as hashes and shown once at creation, and all traffic runs over encrypted connections.

5. Third-Party Processors

We only share data with third parties necessary to provide our service:

  • PostHog: for product analytics and improving the developer experience.
  • Google: only if you choose Google sign-in, subject to Google's own policies.

6. Your Rights

You may request to access the personal data we hold about you, rectify inaccurate data, or request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Deleting a project removes it and its API keys from the platform; game configs already provisioned on the game server stay until you ask us to remove them.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you via the email associated with your account or through a prominent notice on this site.
